Most of the social determinants of health take shape outside the healthcare system, in people’s living and working conditions. Health promotion was designed to foster greater health equity. Social workers are well-positioned to work alongside healthcare professionals to promote the health and well-being of all. Health promotion provides them with a suitable framework for reducing inequalities.
