It is possible to make accommodations for mothers with disabilities so they can give birth under better conditions.

When she was training to become a midwife, she was told she would never be able to practice. Twenty years later, Béatrice Idiard-Chamois, who has a disability and uses a wheelchair, is a midwife at the Institut Mutualiste Montsouris in Paris. With the support of her department head, she established a clinic for women with disabilities before, during, and after the birth of their child. This clinic is unique in France; it allows expectant mothers to prepare for childbirth and give birth under conditions best suited to their specific disability. In this interview, she describes the clinic she oversees.
