Marseille’s Mobile Healthcare Clinic: A Safe Space Where Asylum Seekers Can Discuss Their Health [Interview]

In Marseille, a mobile healthcare access unit (Pass) serves vulnerable populations, including asylum seekers. As part of an outreach initiative, the truck—bearing the hospital’s logo—enables the medical-social team—comprising a doctor, nurse, and social worker—to conduct interviews, perform medical examinations, and provide care. This initiative enables early intervention and immediate care by primary care providers. The team refers patients to hospitals if necessary. The mobile Pass is a trusted resource center where asylum seekers can settle in and discuss their health. For some, this is the first time in their lives.
