The media have the power to shape public opinion, but the public isn't fooled.

Interview with Lise Renaud, professor in the Department of Social and Public Communication at the University of Quebec in Montreal, and Monique Caron-Bouchard, a sociologist. Lise Renaud heads the "Media and Health" research group. Quebecers Lise Renaud and Monique Caron-Bouchard analyze the power of the media and imagery in health communication. In a recently published book, they demonstrate the role the media plays in shaping norms, sometimes intentionally, sometimes unwittingly. They work to influence the media so that prevention and health are given greater consideration.
