When the HIV virus was discovered in the 1980s, people living with the virus faced severe stigma. The advocacy movement was formed precisely to combat this stigma. Thirty years later, Bruno Spire, president of Aides, makes a clear assessment: even though progress has been made, stigma remains prevalent and persistent to this day.
