Antilles Public Health Bulletin. April 2018.

Key Points

  • Against the backdrop of a resurgence of measles in mainland France and the Americas region, the "measles, mumps, and rubella" (MMR) two-dose vaccination coverage in 2016 among children aged 24 months in the French West Indies was insufficient to prevent an outbreak.

  • In 2016, vaccination coverage for the "booster dose of diphtheria-tetanus-polio, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib)” and the vaccination coverage for “hepatitis B (3 doses)” among children aged 24 months was over 90%, exceeding the 95% target in Martinique.

  • In 2016, vaccination coverage for the "3-dose pneumococcal vaccine" among children aged 24 months exceeded the 95% target in Martinique. For the same year, it declined in Guadeloupe to 83%.

  • Between 2015 and 2017, vaccination coverage against meningococcal C continued to increase in the Antilles. Vaccination coverage against HPV remains very low in target populations.
