Surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of July 17, 2023.

Key Points

From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.

  • In Occitanie, since May 1, 2023, 11 imported cases of dengue and 1 case of chikungunya have been identified. No cases of Zika have been identified.

  • To limit the risk of local transmission, 22 entomological surveys and 15 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of these cases.

Nationwide, from May 1 to July 13, 2023, the following were confirmed:

  • 169 imported cases of dengue, 5 imported cases of chikungunya, and 0 imported cases of Zika.

  • The imported dengue cases were mainly from Martinique (42), Guadeloupe (40), Thailand (16), Côte d’Ivoire (14), and Indonesia (11).

  • In the overseas departments, several outbreaks are currently active in French Guiana, Guadeloupe, and Martinique. For more information: dengue surveillance data for overseas territories.
