Evidence-Based Interventions for Mental Health Prevention and Promotion Among Youth: A Synthesis of the Evidence—Key Findings.
This document is a summary of the review *Validated Interventions for Mental Health Prevention and Promotion Among Young People*, produced by INPES. The purpose of this summary is to provide practitioners and professionals in the field with a wealth of knowledge regarding interventions in their field that have been validated through scientific protocols and published in literature reviews. In a quest for comprehensiveness, effectiveness, and rigor, this review was conducted using a method developed at INPES in 2010 to select and analyze scientific literature in order to identify relevant interventions and classify them. Approximately twenty strategies were thus identified as having an impact on young people’s mental health. About half of them are aimed at the general population, while the others target vulnerable groups. The majority of interventions target young people aged 5 and older. Half of the effective interventions are multimodal. Among the unimodal strategies, many programs focus on young people’s psychosocial skills. Knowledge of these strategies at the international level should enrich the discussion on professional practices developed in France.
