The implementation of the 6th KABP telephone survey on the knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors regarding HIV/AIDS among the population living in metropolitan France (Beltzer, Fénies, Halfen, Lert, Levu, and Lydié, 2005) provided an opportunity to test new methods for selecting a sample capable of best representing the population residing in France, taking into account the changing landscape of telecommunications. The survey, conducted during the first half of 2010 among 11,000 people, was designed to compare several sampling methods, with the constraint of being able to compare the results with previous waves. The survey was preceded by a pilot test, some of whose results are presented here.
