In Week 49, the epidemic showed a concerning trend due to a very slight decrease in SARS-CoV-2 circulation, following four weeks of sharp decline after the peak of the second wave:
Slowing decline in the number of new cases (-6% vs. -31% the previous week)
Stabilization of the positivity rate
Very moderate decrease in the number of hospitalizations and ICU admissions
Stabilization in the trends of key contact tracing indicators
Indicators remain at a high level
Most affected regions: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Grand-Est

High mortality
Very high excess mortality in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
Prevention
Individual prevention measures and contact reduction must be maintained
If symptoms develop, immediate isolation is required, and a test should be performed as soon as possible
