Launch of the national survey on the prevalence of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial treatments: May 15–June 30, 2017
Santé publique France and the Interregional Coordination Centers for the Prevention of Healthcare-Associated Infections are launching a new prevalence survey on healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial treatments in healthcare facilities from May 15 to June 30, 2017.
National prevalence surveys are conducted every five years. Building on the four previous surveys, the 2017 survey will be a key milestone in the surveillance and prevention of healthcare-associated infections and antibiotic resistance.
A survey to improve the quality of care provided in healthcare facilities
As part of the healthcare-associated infection prevention program, this national survey is coordinated by Santé publique France in collaboration with the Interregional Coordination Centers for the Control of Healthcare-Associated Infections and their regional branches. By strengthening the healthcare-associated infection surveillance system, it aims to describe the prevalence of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial treatments at the national and regional levels.
450 public and private healthcare facilities randomly selected to participate in the survey
The data collection period ran from May 15 through June 30, 2017, in healthcare facilities in metropolitan France and the overseas departments.
The initial results will be available in 2018.
