More than one in two daily smokers (55%) want to quit smoking.¹ To help them, “Mois sans tabac” is back for its 11th edition, offering free, personalized support. Starting today, smokers can register at mois-sans-tabac.fr to take on this 30-day smoke-free challenge, organized by Santé publique France and the Ministry of Health in partnership with the national health insurance system.

Why sign up?

  • Trying to quit smoking during the program doubles the success rate of quitting at the 1-year mark compared to success rates observed for quit attempts without outside help2

  • Quitting smoking for 30 days increases the chances of long-term success by five times³

By signing up, every smoker gains access to tools and practical advice to help them succeed in this challenge. By calling 39 894, Tabac info service’s helpline, you can receive free support from a smoking cessation specialist and personalized follow-up. The Tabac Info Service e-coaching app offers a free program to maximize your chances of quitting smoking. The tabac-info-service.fr website provides support content and tools (testimonials, Q&As, etc.).

Throughout France, numerous partners—institutions, associations, local governments, businesses, and healthcare professionals—promote the initiative each year. They are supported at the regional level by the regional health agencies (ARS) and the “Month Without Tobacco” ambassadors.

As part of the National Tobacco Control Program, this initiative has attracted more than 2.5 million participants since 2016, with over 117,000 registrations in 2025.

“Mois sans tabac” has become THE event for quitting smoking. Partners, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders in prevention and public health: together, we are working toward a smoke-free future and smoke-free generations

Launch of the “Become an Ex-Smoker” Campaign

From October 1 to November 1, 2026, Santé publique France is running a campaign that highlights the progress made toward quitting smoking. It showcases the support available through messages broadcast across various channels (TV, digital, billboards, etc.).

The tagline “Participating in Tobacco-Free Month increases your chances of becoming an ex-smoker” reminds viewers that 30 days without tobacco increases the chances of long-term cessation fivefold. “Month Without Tobacco” is also renewing its partnership with the M6 Group and its show “La France a un Incroyable Talent.”
