Health Monitoring in Brittany. Update as of July 28, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • Decrease in the incidence rate (IR), testing rate (TR), and positivity rate (PR). The regional (unadjusted) IR fell from 961.6 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 28 to 698.1 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 29. IRs are declining in all four departments. Decrease in emergency room visits and calls to SOS Médecin, fewer admissions to critical care and new hospitalizations in general care, as well as a lower number of deaths—all signs pointing to an improvement in the epidemiological situation. Estimated vaccination coverage by place of residence stands at 83.0% for one dose and 82.3% for a full course.

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • A heat wave swept across France from July 10 to July 26, with extreme heat peaking on July 18.

  • All departments in Brittany were placed under a red alert on July 17 and 18. Brittany has been under a green heat wave alert since July 19.

  • Continued increase in emergency room visits and SOS Médecins indicators for heat-related illnesses in week 29.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Low activity. Decrease in SOS Médecins indicators and increase in the number of emergency room visits compared to the previous week among those aged 15–74.
