Key Points

COVID-19

Increase in the incidence rate and positivity rate calculated from PCR and antigen tests. The incidence rate rose from 108.2 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 8 to 113.9 per 100,000 in Week 9. The positivity rate also rose, from 4.4% to 5.2%. The proportion of suspected cases of the so-called British variant is 76% in Brittany, and that of the Brazilian or South African variants is 3.6%. Vaccination coverage stands at 7.1% for a single dose.

Mortality

The number of deaths across all age groups and among those aged 65 and older is below the thresholds in S07 and S08 (S07 subject to data consolidation, as data is not yet complete).

Bronchiolitis

  • Epidemic activity

  • Oscour®: Decrease in the number of emergency room visits in week 09. Bronchiolitis accounts for 9.4% of emergency room visits among children under 2 years of age.

  • SOS Médecins: Increase in indicators compared to the previous week. Bronchiolitis accounted for 5.8% of consultations among children under 2 years of age in week 07.

Gastroenteritis

  • Activity lower than in previous years for emergency room visits and within seasonal averages for SOS Médecins

  • Oscour®: Decrease in the number of emergency room visits (92 visits in Week 09 versus 104 in Week 08) and in the associated visit rate compared to the previous week. Children under 5 years of age accounted for 48.9% of cases.

  • SOS Médecins: Stagnation in the number of consultations over the past 5 weeks (183 consultations versus 193 in W08).

  • Sentinelles Network: Low to moderate activity in week 09: incidence rate of acute diarrhea estimated at 71 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [26; 116], unconsolidated Sentinelles data).

  • Virological data: 5 positive samples in week 09 at Rennes University Hospital (3 rotaviruses, 1 astrovirus, and 1 norovirus).

Influenza

  • Resumption of influenza surveillance since Week 40.

  • No influenza activity.

  • No virus detected in week 09.
