Health Monitoring in Brittany. Update as of May 20, 2021.

Key Points

COVID-19

The epidemic continues to slow down. Decrease in the incidence rate and positivity rate calculated from PCR and antigen tests. The incidence rate has dropped from 105.8 per 100,000 residents in Week 18 to 95.5 per 100,000 in Week 19, and the positivity rate has fallen from 4.1% in Week 18 to 3.7% in Week 19 (the data provided for Weeks 18 and 19 reflect the new pseudonymization method). These indicators are declining across all age groups. This positive trend is generally reflected across the entire region, although it is not observed to the same extent in certain sub-departmental areas. The proportion of suspected cases of the so-called British variant is 85.2% in Brittany, and that of the Brazilian or South African variants is 2.1%. Vaccination coverage stands at 34.8% for a single dose.

All-cause mortality

In weeks 17 and 18, the number of deaths across all age groups and among those aged 65 and older was below the thresholds.
