Health Monitoring in Brittany. Update as of May 4, 2021.
Key Points
COVID-19
Decrease in the incidence rate and positivity rate calculated from PCR and antigen tests. The incidence rate fell from 180.6 per 100,000 in Week 16 to 130.6 per 100,000 in Week 17. The positivity rate also decreased compared to Week 16, from 7.4% to 5.6% in Week 17. All indicators point to a slowdown in the epidemic. These indicators are declining across all age groups. This favorable trend is generally reflected across the entire region, although it is not observed to the same extent in certain sub-departmental areas. The proportion of suspected cases of the so-called British variant is 86.7% in Brittany, and that of the Brazilian or South African variants is 2.7%. Vaccination coverage stands at 28.7% for a single dose.
Bronchiolitis
Post-epidemic activity, declining phase. Decrease in emergency room visits and SOS Médecins consultations.
Mortality
In weeks 15 and 16, the number of deaths across all age groups and among those aged 65 and older were below the thresholds (S16, subject to data consolidation; data are not yet complete).
