Health Monitoring in Brittany. Update as of September 10, 2020.

Key Points

Infection with the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), COVID-19

As of September 7, 2020, 7,340 confirmed cases of Covid-19 had been diagnosed via RT-PCR in the region, including 1,320 cases in S36. Despite the increase in the positivity rate, indicators of disease severity remain stable (hospitalizations following visits to the emergency room and admissions to intensive care units). As of August 9, 2020, eight people were hospitalized in intensive care or critical care units in Brittany, with two new admissions on August 9, 2020.

Allergies

A peak in emergency room activity appears to have been reached in week 33, with current emergency room activity returning to the seasonal averages of previous years. In week 36, the overall allergy risk is very low for Rennes, Saint-Brieuc, Pontivy, Dinan, and Brest. Pollen allergy sufferers will finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Heat-related illnesses

Brittany is under a green alert for a heat wave. A moderate rise in temperatures is expected for the weekend, though conditions will not reach heat wave levels.
