As of January 14, 2021, 69 cases of infection with emerging variants had been identified in France: 66 cases of the VOC 202012/01 variant (United Kingdom) and 3 cases of the 501Y.V2 variant (South Africa). These cases were identified in various regions of metropolitan France: the South African variant 501Y.V2 in 2 regions and the UK variant VOC 202012/01 in 11 regions. For the Centre-Val de Loire region, 3 cases of the UK variant have been confirmed: 1 in Indre-et-Loire, 1 in Eure-et-Loir, and 1 in Loiret, 2 of which involve a history of travel to the United Kingdom.
