COVID-19

• Since March 1, 1,240 outbreaks have been reported, 136 of which are currently under investigation. In week 53, 20 COVID-19 outbreaks in long-term care facilities were reported, compared to 49 in week 52. Between May 9, 2020, and January 6, 2021, 228 clusters in nursing homes were reported, 46 of which are currently under investigation: 14 in Loir-et-Cher, 9 in Indre-et-Loire, 8 in Loiret, 8 in Cher, 5 in Eure-et-Loir, and 2 in Indre.

• In week 53, the number of COVID-19 RT-PCR tests performed was 56,903, down from week 52 (n = 86,496). Of the tests conducted in week 53, 3,201 were positive (2,764 in week 52), representing a positivity rate of 5.6% (3.2% in week 52).

• The high level of vulnerability persists in all departments.

• In Week 53, the number of medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 (n = 92) was up compared to Week 52 (n = 54) and accounted for 3.5% of all medical procedures (2.3% in Week 52).

• In week 53, the number of emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19 (n = 176) was slightly higher than in week 52 (n = 160) and accounted for 2.1% of visits (2.0% in week 52). The hospitalization rate was 42.0%, and suspected COVID-19 cases accounted for 5.3% of the total number of hospitalizations.

Winter Epidemics

• Bronchiolitis: In week 53, activity related to bronchiolitis was down at SOS Médecins and up in hospital emergency departments.

• Gastroenteritis: In week 53, activity related to gastroenteritis was stable at SOS Médecins and on the rise in hospital emergency departments.

All-cause mortality

Significant excess all-cause mortality across all age groups since week 44, particularly pronounced among those aged 65 and older.
