COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Hauts-de-France Region as of December 23, 2022
Key Points
Viral circulation is declining in Hauts-de-France, but virological indicators remain at high levels among adults (incidence rate ≈500 cases/100,000 inhabitants).
Among those aged 65 and older, the rise in ILI and respiratory illness rates continues in the departments of Somme and Aisne.
In urban areas, consultations for acute respiratory infections (all causes combined) continue to rise among doctors in the Sentinelles Network.
In hospitals, the number of emergency room visits is now stable at the regional level, although it continues to rise in the Pas-de-Calais department. In critical care, the number of new admissions is rising at the regional level, particularly in the Nord department.
The number of outbreaks in long-term care facilities and the number of cases among residents have been rising since week 49.
Currently, the proportion of people aged 60 to 79 and those over 80 who have “up-to-date” vaccination protection against COVID-19 or protection adapted to the Omicron variants remains insufficient.
