COVID-19 and Monkeypox: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of November 18, 2022

In Week 45 in Île-de-France, virological and hospital indicators showed a decline.
The regional incidence rate was 153.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, a slight increase compared to Week 44 of 2022. The positivity rate (14.7%) and the testing rate followed the same trend.
The BA.5 sublineage of the Omicron variant accounted for nearly all sequencing results.
Use of primary care and emergency services for “suspected COVID-19” was decreasing.
The number of new hospitalizations decreased, while the number of new COVID-19-related critical care admissions increased compared to S44. The number of in-hospital deaths decreased.
The total number of new COVID-19 cases reported by ESMS was decreasing.
Monkeypox
As of November 14, 2022, at 12:00 PM, 2,498 confirmed cases had been recorded in Île-de-France (Region of residence). Most (62%) of the cases for which the department of residence was reported (total = 1,398) reside in Paris (75).
Based on the date of reporting, the epidemic peak was recorded in week 27 (July 4–10, 2022) with 327 reported cases. The weekly number of cases has been steadily declining since then. No cases were recorded in week 45.
The median age across all age groups is 35 years, with 97% of cases being male.
Among confirmed cases in the Île-de-France region, 38 people were hospitalized for a Monkeypox-related complication at some point during the course of the disease.
