COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of January 28, 2021

Key Points

In Week 03 (January 18–24, 2021), epidemiological monitoring indicators (virological and hospital-based) showed an increase in SARS-CoV-2 circulation. Pressure on the hospital system in the Île-de-France region was mounting, and the epidemiological situation described at this stage appears very concerning.

With the spread of more transmissible virus variants across our region, strict adherence to preventive measures and the acceleration of vaccination remain the only tools capable of addressing an increase in SARS-CoV-2 transmission in the short term.
