Key points

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

  • 101 confirmed cases and 15 probable cases have been identified in Île-de-France, including 115 cases of dengue and 1 case of chikungunya, all of which were imported.

  • The cases were imported from the Caribbean (68), Asia (18), Latin America (17), and sub-Saharan Africa (13). Among the cases, 103 (89%) were potentially viremic in Île-de-France, and 45 (38.8%) resided in municipalities in the region colonized by the “tiger mosquito” (Aedes albopictus).

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • In Île-de-France, Paris and the inner suburbs were at yellow alert level on August 19, 20, and 21, 2023. Compared to S32, S33 shows a slight increase in emergency room visits, primarily on the iCanicule heat indicator and mostly among people over 65.

  • The Île-de-France region is under a green alert in S34 as of the date of publication of this epidemiological update.

COVID-19

Emergency room visits and SOS Médecins calls related to COVID-19 continue to rise compared to previous weeks across all age groups, with a sharper increase among those under 44, as do activity levels. The number of visits followed by hospitalizations remains stable in Week 33 (86 hospitalizations) compared to the previous week (81 hospitalizations).
