Health Monitoring in the Île-de-France Region. Update as of October 18, 2023.

Key points

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

  • Since the start of enhanced surveillance in the region, 463 cases of arboviral diseases—383 confirmed cases and 80 probable cases—have been investigated in Île-de-France, including 450 cases of dengue, 5 cases of chikungunya, 6 cases of Zika, and 2 cases of dengue/chikungunya co-infection; 461 imported cases, 1 possibly autochthonous case, and 1 possibly autochthonous case that cannot be investigated. There have been 78 reported hospitalizations for dengue, including 2 deaths, and 2 hospitalizations for chikungunya.

COVID-19

  • COVID-19 surveillance based on emergency department visit data (SOS Médecins & Oscour®): COVID-19-related emergency department visits (Oscour®) decreased compared to the previous week. The proportion of SOS Médecins cases also decreased compared to previous weeks. The number of visits followed by hospitalizations decreased slightly in Week 41 (135) compared to the previous week (148).

  • Virological surveillance (Néo-SIDEP): The number of infection cases (SARS-CoV-2 positive samples via RT-PCR and antigen tests) remained stable in Week 41 compared to the previous two weeks. The testing rate is 145 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Bronchiolitis

  • Indicators are rising among SOS Médecins associations and in hospital emergency departments, with:

    • In hospital emergency departments: following a sharp increase in visits in weeks 37 and 38, a slower rise in the number of visits and activity has been observed over the past 3 weeks. Conversely, visits for bronchiolitis followed by hospitalization increased significantly in week 41, while remaining below the levels of the two previous seasons. The percentage of children hospitalized after visiting the emergency room has increased and reached the levels expected during bronchiolitis outbreaks (27.1% in S41, 23% in S40)

    • At SOS Médecins, indicators continue to rise and remain close to the levels observed during the epidemics of the two previous seasons

Influenza

  • Increase in indicators across all age groups at SOS Médecins:

    • Indicators stable in hospital emergency departments, low number of hospitalizations

    • Incidence of acute respiratory infections (ARI) remains stable according to data from the Sentinelles network
