COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Normandy, July 8, 2021

Key Points

In Week 26 in Normandy, following several weeks of improvement in epidemiological indicators, the situation has deteriorated, with increased circulation of SARS-CoV-2 among people aged 15–64 and a sharp rise in the detection of the Delta variant.

The incidence rate increased by 33% between weeks S25 and S26. All departments have low crude incidence rates, but rates are rising in Calvados, Seine-Maritime, and Eure. Positivity rates are all below 5%. Pressure on hospital capacity continues to decrease.

Given the growing spread of the Delta variant, it is important to encourage vaccination among all eligible individuals, with the goal of achieving sufficient herd immunity and protecting the most vulnerable. It is also essential to maintain a high level of adherence to prevention and testing measures, contact tracing, and compliance with isolation in the event of infection or contact with a confirmed case.
