Health Monitoring in the Normandy Region. Update as of October 2, 2020.

Key Points

Increased viral circulation in Normandy, as well as throughout France. This affects all age groups, particularly young adults (ages 20–30). Seine-Maritime, Eure, and Calvados are classified as areas of active viral circulation (ZCA). Incidence rates are particularly high in large urban areas.

As of September 27, 2020,

  • Decrease in incidence (82.0 in Week 39 vs. 88.0 in Week 37 cases/week/100,000 inhabitants) and increase in the positivity rate (7.4% in Week 39 vs. 6.0% in Week 38)

  • Effective reproduction number (R_eff) showing a slight decrease based on positive PCR tests for SARS-CoV-2: 1.03 (1.00–1.06)

  • Hospital data: 258 hospitalizations, including 42 in intensive care, on the rise

  • Clusters - Cluster alert notifications: since May 11, 94 clusters have been recorded in the region, 35 of which are under investigation, including 14 in nursing homes.
