Surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Epidemiological update as of September 4, 2020.

Key Points

From May 1 to September 4, 2020, out of 21 reported cases, 18 were confirmed:

  • 18 imported cases of dengue (vs. 71 cases from May 1 to November 30, 2019)

  • No cases of Chikungunya (vs. 5 cases in 2019);

  • No cases of Zika (vs. 1 case in 2019).

  • No locally acquired cases were identified. Dengue cases were identified in 8 departments in the region: Charente, Charente-Maritime, Dordogne, Gironde, Landes, Lot-et-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, and Deux-Sèvres. Travel locations included: Martinique, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin, and Réunion. For the 17 cases in which a mosquito control operator was called upon, 46 investigations were conducted, resulting in 26 adulticide treatments (in Gironde, Dordogne, Landes, and Lot-et-Garonne).
