Health Monitoring in the Occitanie Region. Update as of February 16, 2023.
Key Points
COVID-19
Oscour® Network: visits due to suspected COVID-19 remained stable compared to the previous week, at a low level (57 emergency room visits, or 20 per 10,000 consultations). At the regional level and across all age groups, the decline in weekly numbers of new hospitalizations (less pronounced than in previous weeks) and new admissions to critical care continued (104 versus 128, or -19%, and 16 versus 24, or -33%, respectively). As of February 7, 2023, 895 COVID-19 patients were currently hospitalized in Occitanie, 6% of whom (N=53) were in critical care units.
SOS Médecins Network: procedures for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases were on the rise compared to the previous week, though remained at a low level (32 procedures, 77 procedures per 10,000 consultations).
The positivity rate (PR) was decreasing in week 06-2023 (PR = 3.8%, down 0.6 percentage points from the previous week), across nearly all departments (a slight increase in Lot and Lozère, to be interpreted with caution due to low sample sizes) and all age groups.
Influenza
Oscour® Network: Consultations for all age groups for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness were on the rise compared to the previous week, except for people aged 65 and older, among whom they remained stable.
SOS Médecins: Procedures for the diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness across all age groups were on the rise compared to the previous week, except among people aged 65 and older, where they were decreasing.
Sentinelles Network: The incidence rate of influenza-like illness cases seen in general practice was 237/100,000 [169; 305], an increase compared to the previous week (174/100,000).
Bronchiolitis
Preliminary assessment: The 2022–2023 epidemic was particularly long, with 14 epidemic weeks for the Occitanie region (compared to 8 weeks during pre-COVID-19 years) and a peak observed in week 48 of 2022. Occitanie is now in the green zone (epidemic over) given the low level of RSV circulation. Indicators related to bronchiolitis will no longer be presented in future Epidemiological Updates.
Gastroenteritis and Acute Diarrhea
Oscour® Network: Gastroenteritis activity was moderate in week 06-2023. Consultations for all ages regarding a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were stable compared to the previous week.
SOS Médecins: Gastroenteritis activity was moderate in week 06-2023. Procedures for all ages for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were stable over the past 6 weeks and increased among children under 5 compared to the previous week.
Sentinelles Network: The incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was 112/100,000 [61–163], down compared to previous weeks.
