Key points

Gastroenteritis

  • Post-epidemic epidemiological situation for the seasonal rotavirus gastroenteritis outbreak since week 47.

  • Pathogenic Escherichia coli and non-pathogenic Escherichia coli have been identified in the majority of stool samples analyzed over the past 5 weeks.

  • Sales of anti-diarrheal medications and oral rehydration solutions in pharmacies continue to decline and are approaching a level comparable to that seen during the same period in 2014–2022.

  • Severe cases of GEA admitted to the intensive care unit at the Mayotte hospital: 22 cases between Week 36 and Week 48, including 2 cases in Week 48.

Bronchiolitis

  • Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) has begun circulating at low levels; it is the primary cause of bronchiolitis (2 positive samples in week 48).

Influenza

  • The positivity rate for Influenza A(H3N2) remains stable at a high level; the transition to the epidemic phase occurred in week 44. In total, 14 severe cases of influenza have been admitted to intensive care since week 36, including 3 in week 48 (4 since the onset of the epidemic phase).

COVID-19

  • Decrease in viral circulation since week 45; the positivity rate is 8% in week 48 (vs. 26% in week 45). Three severe cases admitted to intensive care in weeks 45 and 48.
