Key Points
COVID-19
In the Pays de la Loire region, the rise in SARS-CoV-2 transmission indicators observed since mid-February continued in Week 12 across all departments in the region. The proportion of suspected cases of the more transmissible variant of interest 20I/501Y.V1 (UK) also continued to rise in Week 12 across all departments. Conversely, the proportion of suspected cases of variants 20H/501Y.V2 (ZA) or 20J/501Y.V3 (BR) remained stable and in the minority, although the situation varies by department.
Gastroenteritis
Emergency room visits for gastroenteritis have been higher over the past two weeks among children under 5 years of age. SOS Médecins calls for gastroenteritis are generally decreasing, both across all age groups and among children under 5 years of age.
Bronchiolitis
This marks the sixth week of the bronchiolitis epidemic among children under two years of age in the Pays de la Loire region. There was a sharp increase in emergency department visits for bronchiolitis in week 12 compared to the previous week, as well as in RSV isolations among hospitalized patients. Calls to SOS Médecins, while decreasing, remain at a high level.
