COVID-19
In the Pays de la Loire region, indicators of SARS-CoV-2 circulation remained at a high level in Week 13 across all departments in the region. The proportion of suspected variants of concern (VOCs) identified by screening RT-PCR continued to rise in the region during Week 13 for the 20I/501Y.V1 variant, while it stabilized and remained a minority for the 20H/501Y.V2 and 20J/501Y.V3 variants.
Gastroenteritis
Emergency room visits for gastroenteritis saw a marked increase among children under 5 years of age in S13, as did SOS Médecins calls for gastroenteritis in this same age group.
Bronchiolitis
This marks the seventh week of the bronchiolitis epidemic among children under two years of age in the Pays de la Loire region. The increase in emergency department visits for bronchiolitis, which was very pronounced in Week 12, continued at a more moderate pace in Week 13. Calls to SOS Médecins stabilized in Week 13 at a high level, as did RSV isolations among hospitalized patients.
