Key Points
COVID-19
In the Pays de la Loire region, the increase in SARS-CoV-2 transmission observed over the past two weeks continues in S02, and hospital indicators remain at a high level in the region, with an upward trend.
The rise in incidence and positivity rates continues in S02, against a backdrop of a slight decrease in testing rates. This increase in incidence affects all age groups, with a higher rate observed among those over 75.
As of January 20, 9 cases of infection with the VOC 202012/01 variant (United Kingdom) and 1 case of infection with the 501Y.V2 variant (South Africa) have been identified in the region.
The weekly number of reported Covid-19 outbreaks in ESMS/EHPAD facilities increased in S01 and S02 (S02 data currently being consolidated), whereas it had been at a more moderate level in previous weeks.
In urban areas, an increase in the number of SOS Médecins calls for suspected COVID-19 continues to be observed in S02, as do emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19 in hospitals. The weekly number of new hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients and the number of new admissions to intensive care units for COVID-19 patients are also on the rise in S02 at the regional level.
In Week 01, no significant excess mortality across all causes and all age groups has been observed at the regional level so far (last week with significant excess: Week 50).
