Evaluation Results of the 2022 #JenParleA Mental Health Campaign, Santé publique France

Since early 2021, there has been a decline in adolescents’ mental health, with a significant increase in mood disorders among 11- to 17-year-olds. To address this, Santé publique France launched a communication initiative targeting young people, notably the #JenParleA campaign, which was first rolled out in June 2021 and then relaunched with new content from January 10 to June 13, 2022. The objectives were, on the one hand, to encourage young people to speak up when they are experiencing distress or psychological difficulties and, on the other hand, to promote access to the Fil Santé Jeunes information, listening, and referral service. The 2022 campaign centered on the release of four video stories, a challenge video, and five street interviews posted on social media (Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram). A national poster campaign was also rolled out across all schools, sports facilities, and youth centers in cities. The campaign evaluation consisted of analyzing traffic data to the Fil Santé Jeunes platform as well as a post-campaign survey conducted from June 14 to 28, 2022, among a national sample of 800 young people, representative of the French population aged 11 to 17. The results indicated significant effects on the behaviors promoted by the campaign and an improvement in performance compared to the 2021 campaign in terms of awareness, reaching specific targets, traffic, and activity on the Fil Santé Jeunes platform. However, the campaign’s impact still needs to be strengthened, and recommendations have been made to guide the strategy and improve the effectiveness of future campaigns.
