Summary

  • During week 35 (August 28–September 3, 2017), emergency department visits and subsequent hospitalizations remained stable among children and decreased slightly among adults.

  • Emergency room visits for most seasonal conditions were stable or declining, with the exception of visits: - among children: for asthma attacks (+33%, or +158 visits), conjunctivitis (+15%, or +34 visits) among 2- to 14-year-olds, and general malaise among children under 2 years of age (+14.6%, or +16 visits) - among adults: for asthma (+4.6%).

  • Among the most common conditions, there was an increase in visits for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years old for the second consecutive week (+25%, or +38 visits), as well as for foreign body ingestion in children aged 2–14 (+11.5%). The most common conditions among adults are all stable or declining.
