Key Points
In Week 40 (October 3–9, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children under 2 years of age (+9%, or +588 visits) and remained stable in other age groups.
The rise in seasonal respiratory indicators continues across all age groups: +15% (+560 cases) for suspected COVID-19, +11% (+165 cases) for influenza/flu-like illness, +9% (+420 cases) for acute bronchitis, and +23% (+147 cases) for pneumonia. This increase is more pronounced among adults aged 75 and older (COVID-19 +36%, influenza +95%—43 visits vs. 22 in S39, acute bronchitis +23%, asthma +43%). In this age group, there was also an increase in claims for depressive disorders (+68%, or +13 claims) and falls (+22%, or +32 claims).
Among children under 2 years of age, procedures for bronchiolitis continue to rise (+33%, or +99 procedures), with a trend comparable to last season’s, accompanied by an increase in procedures for ENT conditions (+10%, or +410 procedures) and suspected COVID-19 (+93%, or +37 procedures).
Procedures for trauma are on the rise among children under 15 (+16%, or +81 procedures) and those for anxiety among 2- to 14-year-olds (+8%, or +38 procedures).
Among other indicators, the increase in procedures for infectious conjunctivitis continues among those under 15 (+19%, or +122 procedures) and among those aged 15–74 (+16%, or +44 procedures), at levels higher than in previous years.
