Key Points 

In Week 26 (June 22–28, 2026), the number of emergency department visits increased compared to the previous week among children under 2 years of age (+13%, or 2,608 more visits) and among those aged 75 and older (+11%, or 6,694 more visits, reaching levels higher than in the previous three years). The number of hospitalizations following a visit was up among those aged 75 and older (+19%, or +5,373 hospitalizations, at levels higher than in the previous three years). These figures remained stable in other age groups.

Amid a heat wave, there was an increase in visits across all age groups, reaching levels higher than in the previous three years for:

  • Hyperthermia/heatstroke (+715%, or +5,393 visits).
  • Dehydration (+229%, or +1,600 visits),
  • Hyponatremia in people aged 75 and older (+201%, or +963 visits),
  • Fainting (+37%, or +5,880 visits),
  • Isolated fever (+29%, or +1,790 visits),

Among other conditions, there was an increase in visits for:

  • Gastrointestinal conditions: gastroenteritis (17%, or +866 visits across all ages, with levels higher than in the previous three years among children) and vomiting (+36%, or +1,159 visits across all ages, with levels higher than in the previous three years),
  • ENT infections, across all ages and primarily among children (+19%, or +1,500 visits),
  • Conjunctivitis in children (+29%, or 120 additional visits).
