The 2012 vaccination schedule and recommendations, as advised by the High Council for Public Health
The 2012 vaccination schedule introduces new recommendations regarding vaccinations against seasonal influenza, invasive pneumococcal disease, and tuberculosis, as well as the vaccination schedule for young children in Mayotte and vaccinations for immunocompromised or asplenic individuals. The changes concern recommendations for vaccination against: - seasonal influenza (see section 2.4): pregnant women, regardless of the trimester of pregnancy, and obese individuals with a BMI of 40 kg/m² or higher have been added to the list of people eligible for this vaccination. In addition, a new (live attenuated) vaccine administered intranasally received marketing authorization in January 2011; it may be used in children and adolescents aged 24 months to 17 years who are eligible for seasonal influenza vaccination due to an underlying medical condition, with priority given during the first influenza vaccination; - invasive pneumococcal infections, in at-risk individuals aged 5 years and older (see section 2.11): the recommendation for revaccination is pending a reevaluation, which will be the subject of a future opinion from the HCSP; - tuberculosis (see section 2.14): the department of Mayotte has been added to the list of French territories where all children are considered at high risk of exposure to tuberculosis and where BCG vaccination for these children is strongly recommended. An adjustment to the vaccination schedule for Mayotte is recommended for young children to take into account the epidemiological and socioeconomic data for this department. The HCSP recommends that all newborns be vaccinated against tuberculosis and hepatitis B in the maternity ward (see Table 3.4). Specific vaccination recommendations for immunocompromised or asplenic individuals are summarized in a table (see Table 3.5). To assist in the implementation of vaccination recommendations, a summary table listing the brand names of vaccines available in France alongside the recommended vaccine valences in this schedule has been added (see Table 3.7).
