  • In 2025, during the enhanced surveillance period (May 1 to November 30) 62 autochthonous human cases of West Nile virus infection were identified in six regions of mainland France, including three historically affected by the West Nile virus (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Occitanie) and three affected for the first time (Île-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and Normandy).
  • The detection of human or equine cases every year since 2017 confirms the spread of West Nile virus in mainland France.
