Family solidarity in the face of the challenges of aging.

Family support remains a key factor in enabling older adults to continue living at home. Family support, provided primarily by women of the so-called “middle” generation (ages 50 to 75), is the main source of assistance in the event of health issues. It complements, rather than replaces, professional care and public support systems. The latter may become the only available resources when family support is compromised.[article excerpt]
