Survival Rates for People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 – Oropharynx

In France, in 2018, the estimated number of new cases of oropharyngeal cancer was 4,993, including 3,793 in men and 1,200 in women. Key points: 5-year age-standardized net survival of 41% in men and 53% in women for cases diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; 18-percentage-point improvement in 5-year age-standardized net survival between 1990 and 2015; Comparable improvement in 5-year net survival regardless of age at diagnosis; More marked improvement in 10-year net survival among younger patients; At 10 years of follow-up, excess mortality persists with an annual probability of death ranging from 6% to 10% depending on age.
