Survival Rates for People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 – Ovarian Cancer, Squamous Cell Carcinoma

In France, the estimated number of new cases of invasive epithelial ovarian cancer in 2018 was 4,531. Key points: 5-year age-standardized survival rate of 43% for cases diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; 13-percentage-point improvement in the 5-year age-standardized survival rate between 1990 and 2015 (from 33% in 1990 to 46% in 2015); Greater improvement in 5-year net survival among women aged 50 to 70 (+14 to +20 percentage points between 1990 and 2015) than among those aged 80 (+8 percentage points); No improvement in 10-year net survival between 1990 and 2010 for women aged 40; Long-term survival: very low excess mortality rates among women who survived 5 years after their diagnosis of epithelial ovarian cancer, remaining stable up to 20 years after diagnosis.
