Survival Rates for People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 - Rein

In France, in 2018, the estimated number of new cases of kidney cancer was 15,323, 67% of which were in men. The estimated number of deaths was 5,589, 68% of which occurred in men. Key points: 5-year age-standardized survival rate of 70% for cases diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; 13-percentage-point improvement in the 5-year age-standardized survival rate over 25 years (from 57% to 70% between diagnoses in 1990 and those in 2015); Peak excess mortality rate immediately after diagnosis, and higher among older individuals; After 5 years of follow-up, low excess mortality rate for all ages at diagnosis.
