Survival Rates for People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 – Testicular Cancer, All Cancers

In France, in 2018, the estimated number of new cases of testicular cancer was 2,769, and the estimated number of deaths from testicular cancer was 86 [1]. Approximately 98% of testicular tumors are germ cell tumors, classified as seminomatous (59%) and non-seminomatous and mixed (39%). These two histological types are specifically described in two separate fact sheets. Key points: A cancer primarily affecting young men, with an excellent prognosis and a 5-year standardized net survival rate of 93% following a diagnosis made between 2010 and 2015; 5-year net survival varies little with age at diagnosis (98% at age 20 and 94% at age 60); Little change since the 1990s, with curative treatment having been the standard for nearly 30 years.
