Key Points 

Malaria

• Resurgence of malaria cases in Mayotte: 14 new cases reported in week 20, including 8 in the municipality of Chirongui; all cases recorded in this municipality are suspected to be locally acquired;
• Since the beginning of 2026, 171 cases of malaria have been recorded, 62 suspected to be locally acquired, 95 imported cases—mostly from the Comoros—and 14 with undetermined status. 

Chikungunya

• After several weeks of increases, a decrease in the number of chikungunya cases has been observed since Week 17: 26 cases recorded in Week 20, representing a decrease of approximately 44.7% (unconsolidated data);
• 32 cases have required hospitalization since the beginning of the year, including 3 severe cases admitted to intensive care. 

Mpox

• Four new cases of mpox (monkeypox) were reported in week 20: one imported from Madagascar and the others locally acquired, bringing the total number of cases recorded in Mayotte since the beginning of the year to 23.
