The incidence rate has risen slightly but remains below 50 cases per 100,000 residents for the fourth consecutive week (with 36 cases per 100,000 residents compared to 32 in S06-2023);
The incidence rate is rising across all age groups except for those under 20;
The positivity rate (6.2%) follows a similar trend across all age groups
The testing rate is 576 tests per 100,000 inhabitants in week 07-2023, decreasing across all age groups.
Bronchiolitis
OSCOUR®: In week 08-2023, the proportion of emergency department visits related to bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age continued to decline. It stands at 4.6%, or 67 visits. The proportion of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit is also decreasing, reaching 10% for week 08-2023.
SOS Médecins: In week 08-2023, the proportion of cases handled by SOS Médecins related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age was 3.4%, down from week 07-2023.
Virology data: According to results from the virology laboratories at the University Hospitals of Strasbourg, Nancy, and Reims, in week 08-2023, the number of respiratory specimens testing positive for RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) was low.
Influenza and influenza-like illnesses
OSCOUR®: In week 08-2023, the number of emergency department visits for flu-like illness, across all age groups, decreased compared to the previous week (375 versus 538 in week 07-2023). The proportion of flu-related cases also decreased, with 1.6% of emergency department visits linked to the flu.
SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for flu-like illness, across all age groups, has decreased compared to the previous week (722 consultations versus 827 in Week 07-2023), representing 10.4% of total activity.
Virology data: According to data from the virology laboratories at the Strasbourg, Nancy, and Reims university hospitals, influenza virus circulation is declining in week 08-2023. However, co-circulation of influenza viruses (primarily influenza B) is still being observed. The circulation of enteroviruses and rhinoviruses is stabilizing.
Acute Gastroenteritis
OSCOUR®: The number of emergency department visits for acute gastroenteritis (AGE) across all age groups remained stable in week 08-2023 compared to the previous week (336 vs. 343 in week 07-2023), representing 1.4% of activity. The proportion of hospitalizations for AGE among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit was 1%;
SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for acute gastroenteritis (AG) across all age groups increased in week 08-2023 compared to the previous week (561 vs. 479 in week 07-2023), representing 8.1% of total activity. There were 4 hospitalizations for GEA following a SOS Médecins consultation in week 08-2023 (compared to 2 hospitalizations in week 07-2023);
Virology data: According to data from the virology laboratories at the University Hospitals of Nancy, Strasbourg, and Reims, the circulation of enteric viruses decreased in week 08-2023 and was attributed to norovirus and rotavirus.
