How the Good Behavior Game, an evidence-based program, has gained traction in France

Originating in the United States, the Good Behavior Game (GBG) is a classroom behavior management strategy based on the development of social-emotional skills. First highlighted in a 2013 report by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, this program was piloted in French in three schools in the Alpes-Maritimes department for two years before being expanded. It is now used in twelve French school districts, as well as in Réunion. This adaptation, which retains the core elements that ensure the program’s effectiveness, has been validated by the American Institutes for Research, which oversees the international rollout of the GBG.
