Key Points

  • Nationally, a moderate excess of all-cause deaths was observed between weeks S32 and S36 (September 9–12, 2021). This excess was particularly pronounced among adults aged 65–84.

  • Death rates returned to their usual range of fluctuation in week 37 across all age groups and metropolitan regions.

  • In Martinique and Guadeloupe, the number of deaths peaked in week 33 and began to decline starting in week 34, returning to within the usual range of fluctuation by week 37.
