Key Points 

Extreme Heat, Heat Wave 

• Brittany experienced its first heatwave of S22 (May 26–28, an early occurrence), affecting the entire region. Record-breaking temperatures were recorded.
• The seasonal monitoring system has been active since June 1 and will remain so until September 15.
• A new heatwave has been affecting France since June 18. This heatwave is widespread, prolonged, and intense, with a severity level close to or equivalent to that of 2003.
• Since June 21, Brittany has been affected by this heatwave, with all Breton departments placed under an orange heatwave alert. A red alert was issued starting June 22 (S26).

Allergies

• Activity levels have returned to normal for this time of year following the very high peak in SOS Médecins consultations observed in S22.

ENT Conditions

• Activity related to ENT conditions was moderate to low. In S25, among children under 5 years of age, ENT conditions accounted for 11% of emergency department visits and 49% of SOS Médecins consultations. The virology laboratories at the Rennes University Hospital (CHU) and the Brest University Hospital (CHRU) detected rhinoviruses/enteroviruses in 24% (8/34) and 15% (16/110) of the samples tested, respectively.
