COVID-19

The incidence rate (IR), calculated based on PCR and antigen tests, continues to decline. The IR fell from 88.9 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 35 to 68.1 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 36. IRs are below 100 per 100,000 inhabitants and declining across all departments in the region: -44 points in Côtes d’Armor, -9 points in Finistère, -21 points in Ille-et-Vilaine, and -16 points in Morbihan.

Despite the improvement in the epidemiological situation across all Breton departments, attention remains focused on the communities of municipalities of Pontivy, Fougères, and western Ille-et-Vilaine, as well as on schools in connection with the start of the school year. Vaccination coverage stands at 80.7% for a single dose and 76.7% for a full course.

Heat-related health issues

Finistère and Morbihan were placed under a yellow heat wave alert by Météo-France from July 19 to 22, 2021. Outside of this period, Brittany remained under a green heat wave alert. Moderate activity, close to previous years’ values, excluding periods of extreme heat. Low activity, close to previous years’ values, excluding periods of extreme heat. The 2021 heat wave monitoring period ends on September 15.
