Maternal and Child Health: A Challenging Health Situation in Mayotte.

As a destination for women from neighboring territories such as the Comoros, Mayotte must balance its inadequate healthcare infrastructure with the growing number of pregnant women in its care. In Mayotte, more than 13% of women giving birth are under 20, compared to 1.9% in mainland France. Most of these young women have limited access to health guidelines for managing their pregnancies effectively. Several awareness, prevention, and maternal and child health promotion programs have been implemented in recent years, aimed at improving access to care and addressing health inequalities among patient populations. However, much remains to be done to ensure the establishment of a true health democracy in Mayotte.
